How to Delete Your Subsidiary Account on Bujeti

Need to close a subsidiary that's no longer active? Bujeti allows you to permanently delete subsidiary accounts, but this is an irreversible action that requires meeting specific conditions first.

Before requesting deletion, understand that:

  • The subsidiary will be permanently removed from your account

  • Personal and business data will be deleted within 30 days

  • Financial records must be retained for 7 years (legal requirement)

  • The subsidiary must have zero balance and no pending activity

Before you can delete a subsidiary account, you must meet ALL of these requirements:

Financial Requirements:

  • Zero balance in all wallets (NGN, USD, and any other currencies)

  • No pending transactions or payment requests

  • No outstanding invoices or bills awaiting payment

  • All corporate cards deactivated (if your subsidiary uses Bujeti cards)

Operational Requirements:

  • No active subscriptions or recurring payment setups

  • No pending approvals in your workflow

  • Admin access to the subsidiary you want to delete

  • Authorization to make this decision on behalf of the business

Steps to Delete Your Subsidiary Account

  1. Ensure your subsidiary meets all pre-deletion requirements.

  2. Clear all financial obligations:

    1. Log in to the subsidiary you want to delete

    2. Go to "Wallets" in your dashboard

    3. Verify all wallet balances show ₦0.00 or $0.00

    4. If balances exist, transfer funds to your parent company or withdraw them

    5. Check "Transactions" for any pending or in-process payments

    6. Wait for all pending transactions to complete or cancel them

  3. Deactivate corporate cards (if applicable):

    1. Navigate to "Cards" in your subsidiary dashboard

    2. Deactivate or delete all active corporate cards

    3. Ensure no cards have pending transactions

  4. Cancel bill subscriptions and recurring payments:

    1. Cancel all active subscriptions

    2. Remove any recurring payment setups

  5. Contact Bujeti support to officially request subsidiary account deletion.

    1. Open your email client (use the email address registered to your Bujeti account)

    2. Compose a new email to: [email protected]

    3. Use this subject line: "Delete My Subsidiary Account"

    4. Include the following information in your email:

      • Your full name and role (must be Admin)

      • Parent company name

      • Subsidiary name you want to delete

      • Subsidiary registration number

      • Brief reason for deletion

      • Confirmation that you've met all pre-deletion requirements

      • Confirmation that you understand this action is permanent

Why 7 years? Nigerian accounting standards and tax regulations require businesses to retain financial records for a minimum of 7 years for audit and compliance purposes.
